From a scribble on paper to a nomination for Gift of the Year 2027 🏆

It actually started with a small problem between the two of us. Kevin always really wanted to go to a terrace together. Enjoying a nice meal, a drink... but he had one problem: he was finished in no time. While I was still halfway through my meal and wanted to enjoy it nice and quietly, Kevin had already wolfed it all down and was basically ready to go. I mainly felt rushed.

If I was still sitting quietly eating or drinking, Kevin would get slightly impatient, get distracted, or his attention would drift to his phone. Not exactly the cozy terrace moment I had envisioned.

So one day I thought: maybe I should just give him something to do. I grabbed a piece of paper, scribbled down a few things for him to look for around him, and gave it to him.

Then the magic happens! He looked around. He was busy. We started spotting things together, laughing at the people and situations around us. There, on that terrace, Terrace Bingo was born.

What started as my way of keeping Kevin in his seat just a little longer has grown into a game that many people now use to make their time on the terrace a bit more fun. No numbers or bingo wheel, but recognizable characters, objects, and situations that you have to spot in the wild.

And now, that same Terrasjes Bingo has been nominated for Gift of the Year 2027. We are very proud of that!
