    3. Cactus | Bird & Feeder House

Cactus | Bird & Feeder House

Cactus Bird & Feeder House The origin of the name Cactus Bird & Feeder House is clear: it is shaped like a cactus. It was designed in collaboration with Qualy from Thailand. As much as 50% of the material of the green cactus comes from recycled fishing nets from Thai fishermen. With this birdhouse, you are not only helping the birds but also the fish! The Cactus Bird & Feeder House has a very special feature. You can easily transform it from a nest box into a feeder house. Let us explain how it works. Use as a nest box: Hang the Cactus Bird & Feeder House on the wooden ring at the back. If you want to hang it on a tree, make sure the tree is thick enough to completely close off the back. The entrance hole is located on the green front side. It has a diameter of 3.4 cm and is suitable for birds such as the Sparrow, Nuthatch, Pied Flycatcher, and Redstart. Hang the Cactus around the end of March as a nest box, as interested birds will start orientating themselves. From October, or at least before the first frost, remove it from the wall and clean the inside thoroughly. You can then hang it back up as a birdhouse because birds also use it as a shelter in bad weather. The other option is to flip it around for use as a feeder house. Use as a feeder house: In autumn and winter, you can offer bird food in the Cactus Bird & Feeder House. Hang it up with the small entrance hole and the wooden ring facing forward. The ring holds the food in place. In addition to seeds, you can also put a suet ball in it if desired. If there is still a plastic net around the suet ball, remove it as birds can get entangled in it with their feet. So, you can enjoy the Cactus Bird & Feeder House all year round!
